Austin Community College
ACC is an affordable option for students and families, with educational costs well below four-year colleges and proprietary schools. Weekend, evening, and online classes offer education at more convenient times for working students and those with families. One-fourth of ACC’s credit students are over 30, many of them seeking a second chance at education and new careers.
Minority students make up more than 30 percent of ACC’s credit student body. Varied curriculum to meet community needs ACC’s workforce education programs prepare students to enter the workforce right away.


Credit and non-credit programs are offered in more than 70 career fields. Academic transfer programs offer students two-year associate degrees that transfer to four-year universities. Majors are available in 38 subjects. Foundation skills programs such as English as a Second Language, Adult Education, and GED Preparation help people prepare for college or improve their job opportunities. Enrichment classes, provided through Continuing Education, offer hundreds of courses in job-related skills, the arts, languages, travel, and other areas of interest to the community.

Primary workforce trainer and retrainer Community colleges are critical to workforce development, and ACC serves as the primary trainer of the local workforce. ACC partners with local business, industry, and government sectors to respond to current and emerging workforce needs. More than 450 business and industry representatives serve on advisory boards for ACC’s professional and technical programs. ACC customizes skill training for companies and organizations, reaching over 2,700 employees through more than 350 classes each year.
